NME's Middle Youth Music Policy

Fading rock weekly NME's renewed editorial emphasis on mediocre indie guitar bands makes the title ideal for people who think they're still young but they're not, according to the Observer.

"Advertisers call you middle youth," the paper revealed. "Which means they can sell useless stuff to you at inflated prices because it makes you feel like you're still 'down' (eg albums by the Strokes, The Hives and other bands whose names begin with 'The').

"You know the truth, you're no different to that ageing hippy pal of your Dad's."
