NME Goes Alcohol Crazy

The future of rock & roll is alcoholic excess, according to NME's new editor Conor McNicolas, who this week suggested political awareness amongst bands is old fashioned.

"Blur and Massive Attack are almost part of an intellectual old guard," the former editor of Muzik told the Guardian. "New bands are much more interested in rediscovering rock & roll excess than making political points."

NME's new hedonism fuelled agenda was confirmed by a job advert seeking a replacement News Editor, which appeared in the same newspaper this week.

"You'll be prepared to work long hours ligging (drinking and hanging round guest areas) to deliver that killer headline," the advert proposed. "And equally important, you'll be able to hold your drink as well as your nerve."
