Muzik Reconsider Steve Lawler

Steve Lawler's recent Global Underground compilation Lights Out has made a surprise appearance amongst the dance magazine's Album of the Year nominations after being critically torn to pieces in the magazine's July issue.

"You can't dance to it, it doesn't go anywhere and it's riddled with prog (progressive) scene cliches such as big, echoey female vocals in foreign languages," said Muzik at the time. "Being Steve Lawler is not an easy job."

Their abrupt critical turnaround is likely to be linked to the recent departure of editor Conor McNicholas, who's just about to take over NME. Conor not only wrote the review in question but was also responsible for the feature in the same issue declaring "Prog is dead".
