Progressive house, the superclub genre favoured by the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Deep Dish, is "officially dead" according to the latest issue of Muzik.

"Chugging beats, anguished ethereal (delicate, heavenly) vocals and an endless stream of identikit releases are only the beginning of the end for this long beleaguered genre," they declare.

"Progressive house is the latest byword for boring music."

Trance is also finished they suggest in their review of Cream's latest "Future Trance" compilation, scoffing about "Cream persisting with a horse so dead they surely had to dig it up, pre-flogging."

Meat Katie-style breaks is set to replace the dead genres, they conclude, adding, "there's something of a proper house revolution in the air (in their DJ Lottie cover story)."
