One of London's best-known independent record shops Tag Records, closed its doors this week, after a dispute over an upcoming rent review escalated out of control. According to Tag boss Steve Hanson, him and his staff "were all shocked to arrive for work on Friday 1st March to discover the landlord had entered the premises and taken possession". However, Steve also stressed the dispute wouldn't affect long-term plans.

"It has been common knowledge that my long term goal has been to close the Tag shop and concentrate on the joint web-site operation with Eukatech Records that was announced nearly a year ago," said Steve.

"At this moment in time the Tag company has not been placed into liquidation or as will be claimed, 'gone bust'. This is a personal matter between the landlord's and myself which unfortunately has resulted in Tag having no home. We are taking advice as how to best redress this situation and would ask all our distributor's and customers to bear with us for a short period.
