London Underground's Zero Gravity: 10 Years After (May 25)

6 years after hosting their last party at Hackney's Tyssen Street Studios, seminal London underground crew Zero Gravity are back this weekend with a three room event at The Dungeons. 10 years after staging some of the parties that helped spawn London's massive free party scene, the collective are returning to action with many of the original DJs who played at their original renowned Clock Shop events.

"Most of the Zero Gravity crew are still DJing, promoting events and are generally heavily involved with dance music," says ZG spokesman Cloggi. "A friend pointed out that this year would have been the 10th anniversary of Zero Gravity, the thought stuck in my head, so I tracked everyone down and asked if they'd be interested. Everyone said Yes straight away."

Making their name in the early 90s, Zero Gravity's parties were always distinguished by their open music policy with drum & bass, techno and dub usually being mixed up side by side. The eclectic approach, Cloggi stresses, is one they'll be maintaining.

"I've found it hard to find many events that cater for people with varied tastes who like to party. Anything goes really; there's going to be 3 rooms so there should be something for almost everyone; electro/ techno/ booty/ micro-house/ cheesy disco/ drum and bass/ funk/ dub/ electronica/ loungecore plus plenty of sounds that I'm sure will surprise me.... Er.... no trance though!"

DJs on the night include Groove Asylum's Jerome (long one of the most skilled and highly rated funky techno jocks on the squat party circuit) Flert (Farside) and Gizelle (Rebel Yelle) for an event that's likely to be packed with old faces.

"It'll be a bit of a reunion so should offer a good party atmosphere for people who love music but want to socialise as well," Cloggi promises.

"It'll probably be a slightly ...er… shall we say ...more mature crowd."

Original Megadog main man Michael Dog is also spinning on the night, and will be bringing along his son, who made his own DJing debut at Glastonbury two years ago.

"Michael told us that his son had always wanted to go but had been too young so now he's got his chance. All in all, we're expecting a mixed up-for-it party crowd."

Tickets cost £7 though Skrufff subscribers can get in for £5 by telling the door people, they're subscribed to skrufff-E.
