The third annual Muzik und Maschine (Music & Machine) Conference, founded by Jeff Mills and Tresor's Dimitri Hegeman, takes place between July 12 and the 14th to coincide with this year's Berlin love Parade. The 3 day event, established in 2000 to commemorate techno and electronic music, is being expanded this year with the public being invited to participate in stands and discussions.

Jeff Mills is also set to re-release one of his classic techno productions, a 1993 remix of Late Night (which first appeared on his debut album Waveform Transmission Volume 1 in 1992).

The usually obtuse theorist has also written an unusually accessible essay to accompany the track's re-issue, reminiscing about his DJ residency at New York's Limelight Club in 1993.

"What I loved the most was later in the night, around 5:30am," Jeff recalls.

"The time when the out-of-town tourists and the club trendy had tired and left the dance floor, the music we played got a bit more daring, a lot deeper and all existing dancers on the dance floor were more alert and sensitive to new sounds. It was the feeling of this timeframe that I tried to capture through the track."

Late Night is out on Tresor shortly.
