The UK authorities' apparently imminent reclassification of cannabis as a class C drug, doesn't go far enough, according to organisers of this year's Legalise Cannabis Festival.

"More than ever we need to push for full legalisation," they say in the press release for this year's Brockwell Park event.

"Whilst cannabis remains covered by the Misuse of Drugs act, the police still have full powers to kick down your door, fine you, imprison your dealer, steal your weed, stop and search you and deny you the right to grow your own medicine in your own home."

The free festival takes place on Saturday May 4 and will feature a vast array of sound systems from England's underground free party scene, covering a wide range of musical styles from techno to hip hop to dub. 30,000 people turned up last year despite torrential rain and this year's event is likely to be even busier. Highly recommended, the event is one of London's best days out of the year.
