Ticket prices for Carl Cox's forthcoming summer residency at Ibiza superclub Space will be "only £20- half the normal entry price to clubs on the island," Cox announced on his website this week.

Tickets for Godskitchen's new weekly at Eden are also set to be cheaper following their departure from Amnesia.

"Our move to Eden has allowed us to offer the very best promotions and line ups, without ripping off the clubbers that make this island such a success," said Godskitchen promoter Chris Griffin.

"(Clubbers) will be well looked after without being subject to the usual financial tourist trap." Some ticket prices will be as low as £18, a significant reduction on recent years.

The unprecedented price reductions follow Spain's introduction of the Euro currency earlier this year, which is likely to cause massive confusion for clubbers unfamiliar with relative exchange rates. They also coincide with an apparent crisis amongst UK superclubs, which prompted Gatecrasher chief Simon Raines to declare last week, "weekly club nights have had their chips (are finished.) Clubbers are more interested in going to big events."

With Ibiza depending on clubbers going out every night, 2002 could prove to be an unusually tough season for the island's best-known brands.
