July 2002 will see the release of 'Shifting Gears', the first album to come from Carl Cox's Intec Records, released locally by Inertia Distribution.

Intec (which literally stands for 'International Techno') formed in 1999 by tech-house legend Carl Cox and was set up to release quality underground tech-house, delivering a funky and entertaining alternative to the one-dimensional and soulless feel that often haunts much of today's techno.

Intec's first release was Smith & Selway's 12" "Move", which became an instant classic, championed by the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Jeff Mills and Stacey Pullen. 'Shifting Gears' is Intec's first full length release, and is a mix CD put together by DJ C1. A rising star of the tech-house scene, C1
has been garnering praise for his live DJ sets, as was witnessed when he played in Melbourne earlier this year. As DJ Mag wrote, by "listening to C1. it is patently obvious why Cox has made him the voice of Intec."

Released as a way of capturing these acclaimed ets, 'Shifting Gears' features tracks from Intec artists as well as contributions from DJ Q, H Foundation, Ian Pooley and The Hacker. The results are set to create one of the funkiest techno releases of the year.

'Shifting Gears' will be released locally late July by Inertia. Look out for future Intec releases including Bryan Zentz 'Seven Breaths' LP.
