Green Velvet Ditches Pills for Thrills

Radio edits of Green Velvet's upcoming single La La Land have dropped the word "pills" from the track, presumably over concerns that radio programmers might otherwise snub the track. The new mixes were commissioned by EMI imprint Credence who signed the (ironically) anti-ecstasy track, after it became a club hit last year.

The ultra cautious move came just weeks after Radio 1 chief Alex Jones-Donnelly admitted that his station no longer banned "thinly veiled drug references."

"Radio 1 runs major drug campaigns two or three times a year but young people in the UK consume drugs every day," he told the Guardian.

"If we are too judgmental about drug references in songs, young people won't respond to the drugs information campaigns we run."
