DJ Gavan Bright has been working hard in the Gay community for the past 7 years. From a humble beginnings spinning disks at Cronulla Gay Group dance's @ Sylvania Waters, to prestigious events such as Mardi Gras. Having been a punter at earlier legendary parties such as Sweatbox, Carnival Erotica, Paradise Garage, Summer and RATS, Gavan has fond memories of The Midnight shift circa 1986 which introduced to him 80's disco, Pop and Chicago house by DJ idols such as Ron Oram. These experiences fuse together with today's Hard House & Tech-Trance, styles which influence his music. What he plays comes from the heart and his mixing (-) style has instinctively developed over time based his benchmarks from the early house scene.
As a founder of As an Australian tastemaker DJ whom contributes to our national ARIA Chart, he was recently appointed one of the judges for the 2001 ARIA awards dance nomination.
He produces dance music with Matt Jones (keyboards) with the 90's dance act, 'Boxcar' and they work under the name of "Laundromatt". At Hand in Hand on heat they showcased the first track "F.A.B".
In September 2000 they remixed a pop hit "Lets Go" by KM (lead Female singer in 'Euphoria') for Empire Records.
"I'm excited to play the Whoreden at Mardi Gras 2002, I feel my music has progressed compared to my previous gig in the RHI @ Mardi Gras 2000". Gavan went on to add that, "Mardi Gras 2002 would give to him the opportunity to showcase his current style which is a more comfortable style of dirty baselines with a hard technical edge.

Gavan plays regularly across the country and has helped bring the Tropical Fruits & Wet Dreaming events in Lismore a national legendary status. His unique talents have won him prestigious gigs for the ALSO Foundation in Melbourne and such diverse events as the TRADE OZ Tour. During his apprenticeship he was fortunate enough to have been billed with some of the worlds top DJ's such as; Malcolm Duffy, Gonzalo, Wayne G, Rachael Auburn (OutFm) Steve Thomas and Alan Thompson to name but a few.
Today, Gavan's musical style is a futuristic blend leaning heavily underground and touching on hard house, tech-house and tech-trance, being influenced by the likes of Terry Lee Brown Jr., Lab-4, Karim, Timo Mass, Hakan Lidbo Deep Dish, Nick Warren and Hippie and Halo. His favourite labels include an eclectic mix from Plastic City, Fuju, Deviant Records, End Recordings, Large, Low Pressings, Do-Not Bend, Proton Records, Rebel Vinyl, Maelstrom, Pure Music, Massive, pulsed, Overdose, BXR among others.

Dance Music has been his driving force, source of enthusiasm focus on the music.
When asked what dance music means to him Gavan says "I find dance music rather spiritual, a very healing force, there is no better experience then having an audience connect with you through music: what a rush."
