206,000 American women received cosmetic breast implants last year, more than the double the number compared to ten years ago (Washington Post). Women also opted for dramatically larger fake breasts, with average implant sizes increasing from 250 cubic centimetres to 350 cc, the Post reported.

Ominously, up to a quarter of implants, whether silicon or salt water, require additional surgery within 5 years, the article added, with few breasts expected to last more than 10 years. Leakage is also apparently still common.
