Activists against the R.A.V.E. Act, which threatens to destroy American nightlife, stepped up their campaign this week and called for protestors to contribute funds to the Drugs Policy Alliance (DPA) as well as lobbying Senators during their August vacations. The DPA are one of the leading organisations involved in reforming US drug laws and helped delay the bill (S2633) from already becoming law.

"The Alliance campaign has been very successful so far, but your freedom and tax dollars are not safe from radical prohibitionists just yet," warned DPA chief Ethan Nadelmann this week.

"Without your further help the DEA could have a new law that they can use to shut down raves, circuit parties, and hemp festivals. A new law which they could use to seize the homes of people that have a party or barbecue where someone smokes marijuana," he said.

Mr Nadelman urged clubbers and civil libertarians to find out who their local Senators are by checking a website (www.senate.gov/senators/index.cfm) and to phone them up to protest against the act.
