Stoned Asia supremo DJ Pathaan looks set to significantly ease tensions between Muslims and the West with the release of his upcoming compilation CD Stoned Asia- World Peace, which includes the first recording in over a 20 years by Cat Stevens (Call To Prayer). The singer's name appeared in the Guardian this week, in an article examining the implications of the victory of Islamic based party AKP, in Turkey's general election last weekend.

"England has nothing to worry about from our party," an AKP supporter told the paper.

"Long live Yusuf Islam, or Cat Stevens as you call him."

The supporter's reactions mirrored those of Pathaan's father, the chillout king revealed when he spoke to Skruff recently.

"Cat Stevens has also always been a hero to my Dad," said Pathaan. "Growing up at home my Dad would always refer to someone as great as Cat Stevens choosing Islam."

The track in question features a recording of Steven's voice made by Bob Hoyroyd, of the singer chanting the hauntingly beautiful Muslim Call To Prayer, recorded by coincidence at Regents Park Mosque, some years ago. Stoned Asia- World Peace is out on Kickin Records in the New Year.
