High schools in Los Angeles have banned students from practising the C-step dance, over concerns that its association with the Crips could spark gang violence. 63 gang related murders happened during just the first two months of this year in LA and teachers are concerned Bloods affiliated street gangs could attack people practising the intricate steps.

"We tell students you might be somewhere doing that dance and it could end your life or you get seriously hurt," Crenshaw High School Principal Isaac Hammond told the LA Times.

According to the New York Times, long established truces between gangs such as the Crips and Bloods are starting to dissolve as a new generation of fearless gang members emerge. The C walk has been featured in videos by former Crip Snoop Dogg and according to the Guardian looks like "hopscotch on crack".
