Cocaine users who drink alcohol simultaneously are 18 times more likely to die from a heart attack than those who just sniff cocaine, according a report in this week's Observer.

"Cocaine puts an enormous strain on your heart because your blood pressure goes up very, very high and your coronaries are restricted," Professor John Henry told the newspaper. "Longer term, people are subject to heart attacks."

Former Loaded founder James Brown confessed in the same issue to struggling with alcohol and cocaine habits throughout his editorship, admitting, "at Loaded we were all out of our heads. The whole day was controlled by what time the dealer showed up."

"There's people I've worked with who've been in rehab and hospital," he continued.

"Some people haven't come out. There was a very dark side to our excesses. Some people are still stuck in it and caught."
