Carl Cox & Digweed Spearhead The Area2 Dance Tent

DJ's Carl Cox and John Digweed; arguably two of the dance world¹s best-loved and influential figures; will feature at this year's Area2: The Festival, in addition to the huge talents of Moby , Bowie, Busta Rhymes and more.

Carl Cox returns to these shores after a hugely successful two-month tour of North and South America, which began back in February. Moby asked Carl to join him once again after last summers electrifying sets blew the crowds away at Area:One. His rip-roaring stint at last summers groundbreaking event turned normally taciturn crowds on to tech, with a two-hour teaser of a set; blowing away the competition and converting all the unbelievers with his explosive (and highly demanding) three deck wizardry; demonstrating that his highly-accessible party vibe has the potential of cross-over success with mainstream audiences.

The twisting, turning tech-house and funky techno that he¹s famous for features on his latest disc "Global" (ffrr/WSM) and highlights the cutting-edge of today's scene. Look out for his artist album "Second Sign" to drop early next year. The highly anticipated disc is being produced by Carl together with engineer Neil McLellan (Music for the Jilted Generation) and the collaborative efforts of Roni Size and Krust, Saffron Republica, Erick Morillo, Neneh Cherry, Fatboy Slim and some evil guitar work from Cradle of Filth's Paul Allender.

John Digweed currently ranked #1 DJ for 2002 in DJ Magazine¹s prestigious annual poll, needs little introduction. He has been transfixing clubbers in the US for over a decade, and was the first UK DJ to hold a residency at the New York's now-defunct megaclub Twilo, together with longtime cohort Sasha. He is the boss of Bedrock Records and records as "Bedrock" with partner Nick Muir, and runs the massively successful Bedrock night in the UK, alternating between Heaven in London and his home town of Hastings.

Fresh from the recently concluded 8week Delta Heavy Tour of North America; where he and Sasha took their renowned dark and stormy DJ sets once the pride of Twilo out to the American masses and played to a combined audience of 70,000 clubbers.

Digweed jumps back in the saddle on July 28th playing every date of Area2 in support of his latest release "MMII" on ffrr/WSM. This superb new CD was born from a mix he designed for his UK Radio show on Kiss FM. An eclectic day-trip rather than a progressive voyage; the result is a differently-colored Digweed palette; taking you from the depths of deep, brooding house into refreshing airy light.
