What do you get when you start releasing material for Trevor Rockcliffe, DJ C1, Bryan Zentz, Recylced Loops (Umek & Valentino) and Carl Cox- Intec Records.

We had a chat to DJ C1 from Intec about his upcoming Melbourne visit, the new material and asked the impossible.

We are happy to hear you are coming down to Melbourne in Late January, I'm sure we are in for a good night at Fokus. Have you been down to Australia in particular Melbourne before-
I came over last year for a holiday and loved it, it's a great country but above all the people have a cool attitude to life in general that I like. It's nice to be coming back in DJ mode, and particularly to Melbourne where it's my first time. Every DJ I talk to says Melbourne is the heart of the scene in Oz.

What can we expect to hear from you during your set-
A good variety of house and techno, some old some new. I try to take things up and down within a set rather than just keep it at a constant.

You have been DJing and producing techno for over 10 years, what has been your career highlights-
That's an impossible question to answer! The highlight is not one thing but actually being able to do it, you know, to travel and play music for a living. Without sounding cheesy, it is a dream come true.

What has been your Favorite gig/tour-
You're full of impossible questions aren't you! The first time I played in a club called Florida135 in Spain a few years back was pretty amazing, it's built like a city with neon signs and stores etc…People were going crazy to the most underground music I could play, and the deeper I went the more they liked it. I've had a lot of other great nights too but that one was really special.

Just recently you held the Slam VS Intec Records party…. I saw the photos it looked like a great night… Was it as much fun as it looked-
Oh yes, and then some. We all played individual sets then Coxy, Stuart, Orde and myself finished the night jamming on 4 decks, it was pretty awesome.

Did you whip the Slam boys assess- Or was this just a friendly venture- :)
Strictly friendly of course. They're inspirational DJ's.

You have been known for your vast musical tastes from acid house, to house, to disco, to techno and the odd Latino dance tune… What artists have been your major influences-
My influences originate from 70's music on the whole. From the soul funk vibe of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Dexter Wansell to Miles Davies and Gilberto Gil. There's a long list that goes on through to people like Cabaret Voltaire and Francois K, but that's the root of it all.

What were you doing and where were you on the Eve of the 2002 New Year-
I was DJing in Belfast right on midnight at the Odyssey Arena, with lots of friendly, nice Irish people.

Intec Records is newcomer on the dance music scene, how has everything been progressing since it was launched in 1999-
Really well, we get all sorts of people responding to what we're doing.

Just so we get this straight :) Intec stands for "In Techno" right- If not how did the name come about-
It actually stands for International Techno, and a certain Mr Cox came up with the name.

How did Intec Records actually come together-
Carl and I were chatting one day about how there was a lot of good techno and house around but there weren't enough labels taking the artists to a different levels with albums and promotion. So we thought we should do it.

What projects/releases do you have in the pipeline for Intec Records-
Lots of quality 12"s from all our current artists. Album wise I'm doing the first mix CD called Shifting Gears Vol 1 which should be out April time, then we have artist albums from Trevor Rockcliffe, Bryan Zentz and Recylced Loops (Umek & Valentino). There's a lot going<
