Infestation levels of bed bugs in Britain have quadrupled, according to a report in this week's Mirror, with backpackers and globe trotting businessmen responsible for importing the 5mm long insects in their baggage.

The blood-sucking beasts only bite humans at night and can go without blood for 6 months, the paper revealed, though rarely spread disease. They're also apparently spreading through car boot sales as they're increasingly setting up home in household goods, including phone handsets.
