Bad Girls Get Body Pierced

Body pierced American girls are twice as likely to be sexually active as their non pierced peers, according to new research from New York's University of Rochester. The pierced girls are also likely to be cannabis smokers, they study suggests.

Teenage boys wearing surgical steel are equally delinquent, being five times more likely to skip school then boys with no body jewellery. The key indicator appears to be piercings anywhere but the ears.

"If your adolescent wants to have a body piercing, it is a reason to talk to them," warns study Doctor Timothy Roberts (Denver Rocky Mountain News).

His findings followed another recent study of undergraduate students in New York which revealed that 29% of female students at Pace University had navel (belly) piercings, 5% nipples and 2% genitals.
