Organisers of Sydney's New Year's event Field Day have sold over 10,000 tickets for this year's daytime party, which takes place at The Domain from 10am on New Years Day.

"The area will be almost twice the size of last year's event, but not with twice the crowd amount and there will be extra shade," promoter Matt Bright told Skrufff warning that the event is close to selling out.

"You know you've got something right when people are staying home on New Years Eve to go out the next day," he added. "The sun, grass and trees sure changes the vibe compared to four walls and a roof."

The site also contains oak and gum trees offering shade from the 30 centigrade peak summer temperatures and tap water is also being provided, said Matt.

"We have a large marketplace and a chillout tent with acoustic music, but having said that, we expect the greater part of most people's day to be spent on the dancefloor," he added.

DJs include Felix Da Housecat, Plump DJs, Dimitri from Paris, LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad and Freq Nasty.
