Australian duo Sonic Animation are to make their UK recording debut shortly with their new single "I'm A DJ" which takes a seriously harsh look at modern superstar DJ culture.

Built around the punchline "I'm a DJ, my head is up my ass" the track was apparently inspired by the duo's experiences of working alongside international DJs visiting Melbourne over the last 8 years.

"The 'Superstar DJ' has developed into a genre of its own, with the appropriate clothing, jewellery, record box carrying entourage, DJ photo stance and most importantly attitude, and we felt this was a worthy object for a song," they explain.

"Of course, we're not perfect ourselves and have been accused of being wankers and pop stars, especially when we wear our gold chains."

Remixes come from the Sharp Boys and local superstar producer/ promoter (DJ-) Mark James while the duo (known to their non celeb friends as Rupert Keiller and Adrian Cartwright) follow it up with an album Reality By Deception in September. I'm a DJ comes out on Doublethink Records shortly.
