Cream have denied a report in the Guardian which suggested that the club was "floundering" telling Skrufff this week that the club's overall activities remain "brilliant." However, club promoter Iain Hoskin did confirm that their Liverpool flag ship is currently going through a tough time.

"The club is going through a few changes at the moment and we are taking Cream to a smaller more manageable size, with that we can hopefully have a more sure music policy and a more regular returning crowd," he said. "Attendances are up and down and are largely based on availability of (DJ) talent."

His comments were prompted by an article in the Guardian which suggested the era of superclub brands could be drawing to a close, though according to Haskins, such talk misses the point.

"I think things are really healthy, there's gonna' be a few changes over the next year or so with everybody and it means that some club brands will start to operate in a different way to how they have done before. But things have to change, and ultimately it will lead to new music or new culture coming through," he suggested.

"At the moment we are treating each week at Cream the way an event would be promoted. What we want to do is take it smaller and more underground."
