The Australian Recording Industry has banded together like never before, with all major record companies pledging their support for Australia's only full-time dance music radio station, Rhythm FM and the 'Keep The Rhythm Alive' campaign.

The campaign has seen the Rhythm FM offices inundated with pledges of membership, faxes, emails and phone calls of support from domestic and international listeners, as well as industry figures.

Rhythm FM Director Phil Leahy, is ecstatic with the strong show of support.

"The chief of Sony Music, Denis Handlin, was straight on the phone booking a campaign. Warner Music's Chris Moss was next on the blower, Festival Mushroom, Shock, EMI, and BMG have pledged their support as well," Mr Leahy said.

"The show of support from the recording industry has been amazing."

Rhythm FM plays a key role in the Australian music community, surfacing new music and providing opportunities for local artists, DJ's and producers to showcase their talent.

Rhythm FM has been credited with breaking Paul Mac's hit 'Just The Thing'. Pepe Deluxe's 'Before You Leave', now featuring in the Levi's Twisted Boy TV commercial and recently added to Nova FM's playlist, was added to the Rhythm playlist more than 11 months ago.

"'Before You Leave' was number one on the Rhythm FM chart months before it became a UK number one hit," Leahy says. "We've supported good quality dance music since our inception and now it's great to see the record companies supporting us."
