4000 to 12 to 1: Moby Mops Up

Moby's new album 18 reached number 1 in 12 different countries last week, including the UK, France, Germany and Australia. Debuting at number 4 on the Us charts, the album's commercial success is a resounding triumph, compared to his last album Play which debuted in the UK at 33 (in 1999).

Play sold just 4,000 copies in the UK during its first week and took 46 weeks before reaching the top spot (before going on to sell 10 million copies worldwide). In comparison, 18 sold 51,500 copies in week 1(Music Week).
