Welcome 2002 - Your Last Chance to Rock the Docks

In what will definitely be the last ever all-night event to be held at Victoria Docks, Welcome 2002 will simultaneously usher in the New Year whilst saying goodbye forever to probably Melbourne's most popular dance party venue.

As Sheds 2 and 4 explode with colour and sound for the very last time, Future Entertainment and Hardware will once again combine forces "down at the docks" to deliver the third instalment of Melbourne's most well-known New Year's Eve event.

Taking place across four massive arenas, Welcome 2002 will be headlined this year by the UK's John Digweed, whose crowd-pleasing sets have been rewarded with his place at number one in "DJ" magazine's recent "People's Choice" poll.

He'll be playing a minimum four hour set, joined on the bill by Germany's Sven Vath, Canada's Richie Hawtin, Loxy and Ink from the Metalheadz stable, and the UK's Jon Terry, plus over 30 of Australia's own DJ's and live artists. They'll be playing across four massive arenas with Future and Hardware joined for this special event by crews from Hard Kandy, Bass Station and The Underground Sound.

In addition to all the great music, the festive atmosphere will be completed by The Ferris Wheel and other carnival rides, the 'FireFly' market area, and food stalls with fresh fruit and non-alcoholic beverages.

It's also your chance to be part of history as Welcome 2002 will be filmed for a documentary on the history of parties at Melbourne's Docklands. For over a decade, the Docklands precinct has played host to over 60 dance parties from various organisers including the ALSO Foundation, Hardware and Future Entertainment. These have included landmark events like Two Tribes, Welcome, Red Raw, Gatecrasher, Belfast, Perfecto, Trade, Decade and WinterDaze.
