Turbo Trance Records - turbodelic, psychedelic music for the 21st century.

Ten months ago, Turbo Trance Records propelled itself onto the psychedelic trance scene. The key elements behind this phenomenon are DJ's: Gill, Ananda, Jessy, and Tit, and live acts: Neuromotor, Psyside, Hyper Frequencies, The Infernal Turntable, UTP, and DJ L'elf . The philosophy that it landed to earth with is simple as DJ L'elf , the founder, so succinctly put it: "Turbo Trance records is a label which is looking to find a new opening in this movement; it is attempting to develop a new style of trance through mixing it with others styles. Turbo for the speed, the strength, the punch, and trance for the music style we love, our reason to live!"

France, in my mind, has long had a distinctive psychedelic heritage, a heritage that labels like 3D Vision and artists like Total Eclipse and GMS have helped to carve, and it is these shoes which Turbo Trance are confidently stepping into. Already two 12" (After Effect EP and Running time EP) and one compilation CD (Origins) down the line, they are currently busy preparing for their next three releases: a long awaited 12" release from Growling Mad Scientists (this will be a collaboration between Turbo Trance and Moon Spirits Records) due out in September; a compilation album for October (no title as yet); and an artist album by Biodegradable (a new artist from San Francisco who has already had releases on Flying Rhino, Novatekk, and Ceiba Records) provisionally scheduled for November.

The label is unashamedly the personal psychedelic quest of DJ L'elf , a quest that has its origins back in 1992 with the creation of the underground trance party crew, Magic Tribe. It was at that time that 'elf also became the resident DJ at France's first cyber cafe. By 1995 he had joined the ranks of Monolithe Records as a label DJ, and that lead onto becoming the artistic director of the label in 1997 and the production of his first EP (Phase One). 1998 saw him release Phase Two and remix it for Krembo Records and from there on in saw the path of his own label opening up for him which culminated with the establishment of Turbo Trance Records in 2000.

And, as already stated, its not even one year old at the time of writing. With such established foundations and dynamic plan for the future, Turbo Trance can only further entrench into our consciousness that France contains a psychedelic force that is constantly generating fractalised power as it moves forward.
