Finlay Quaye and Kelis both appear on Timo Maas's upcoming album while Deep Dish are looking to record with Boy George and former Bauhaus singer Pete Murphy, reports in the British press revealed this week. According to Music Week, Maas is 'pursuing a rockier sound than the progressive beats for which he's known', while Deep Dish told DJ Magazine they've got their own visions of rock star fame.

"We're hoping to work with Pete Murphy from Bauhaus," said Ali. "He's a good friend and a big inspiration, that kind of music was a real teenage thing for me especially. I grew up wanting to be a rock star, strumming guitars on stage and all that stuff."

7 magazine also appeared to be jumping on the rock/dance crossover wagon this week, with an over-the-top feature suggesting "it's cool to like bands again".

"The Avalanches plundered record shops to make up the 600 or so samples for their album, and their mind blowing, spine tingling and rather funny tour this year wowed the dance fraternity and posed the question; why not enter the stage playing air guitar to Guns & Roses-" they said.

Deep Dish's latest mix CD, Global Underground Moscow (21) is out now on Global Underground (and doesn't include Guns & Roses OR Bauhaus).
