Saturday, December 29, 2001Organisers of Sydney dance festival Liquid Labyrinth were asking customers to "get out and do a rain dance" (December 28th) as forest fires threatened to engulf the site at Glenworth Valley, New South Wales (NSW).
"As a result of worsening circumstances and advice we received late this afternoon from the NSW Rural Fire Service, we are currently debating whether our event will be able to go ahead at the planned venue," a statement from organisers said today (28th).
"Current reports from the venue indicate that rain clouds appear to be gathering and much of the local fire from earlier today has passed through."
According to the statement, organisers have a back up "inner city venue" venue in case of further fire problems, with tickets remaining valid for whichever site they decide on. Organisers are asking revellers to check their site for continuing updates and urge people "to doubt the veracity of any reports unless they are posted on our website." Further updates are also available by telephoning 1900 96 3300.
