Summadayze : Here Comes The Sun

After three years of sell-out crowds, Summadayze shines again at the newly renovated Sidney Myer Music Bowl this New Year's Day, Tuesday 1st January, 2002. Just announced on the bill are international DJ's Sister Bliss from Faithless, Spiller of "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)" fame, breaks-meister Krafty Kuts, and Jay Denham from the US and the UK's Jon Terry.

Presented by Future Entertainment, the world-renowned Summadayze event is this country's largest and most highly anticipated dance festival. Set to explode in a flurry of sights and sounds from 8am to 11pm, Summadayze will once more present a brilliant morning, afternoon and evening of the world's best dance music.

In the subterranean pleasure rooms of the Myer Music Bowl, Summadayze for the first time will also present the Deepdayze VIP Area. In this underground haven the Loquegroove team will provide the New Year's Day soundtrack, while Honkytonks serves up the finest in long tall cold things.

The Summadayze DJ line-up features the cream of Australia's dance talent joined by a hand-picked selection of international artists across five stages:

  • Futuredayze (Main Stage)

      DJ's Sister Bliss (UK), Sean Quinn, Mark James, Will E Tell, Kasey Taylor, John Course, Jason Midro and Matt Crawford playing the best progressive tracks from around the globe


  • Housedayze
      DJ's Spiller (Italy), Andy Van, Peter Macnamara, Matt Wilco, Arlen De Silva vs Donni 1, Lords of Rhythm (Mark John & DJ Jorj), Dean Cherny and Sam Fraser playing the smoothest, grooviest house sounds


  • Tekdayze (presented by Hardware)
      DJ's Jay Denham (USA), Jon Terry (UK), Ben Cromack vs Scott Finemore, Damian Laird, Ajax vs Scott Alert, Simon Digby, Nick Demkiw, Teriyakianarkisaki, Simon Coyle and
      Richie Rich and techno and harder-edge tunes


  • Breakdayze
      DJ's Krafty Kuts (UK), Ransom, Brewster, 1LC, Adam 1, Jnett, Rolan, Khalil, DJazz playing breaks, drum 'n' bass and jazzy beats.


  • Deepdayze VIP Area (presented by Loquegroove & Honkytonks)
      DJ's Angela Maison, Ant J Steep, J-Red & Selekt, Simon Caldwell, Ken Cloud, Declan Kelly & Matt Carswell, Action Direkt, Mahi, Mr Geoffrey and a mystery international guest playing deep house, layered tech soul, r'n'b and instrumental hip hop.


    In addition, to add to all the fun in the sun, there'll be the Foam Fun area ,Water Slides, Future Spa Land, amusements and rides, festival stalls selling a variety of ice cream, fresh fruits and other party essentials, plus plenty of shaded areas, and over 70 free water drinking points.

    This will all be set within the sublime surrounds of Melbourne's natural amphitheatre, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, with its vast green, grassy mounds and tree-covered areas. The largest purpose-built permanent outdoor performance venue in Australia, The Bowl has just undergone a $20 million re-fit which has created new lawn sightlines and, for the first time, extensive permanent toilet facilities.

    The event producers, Future Entertainment, are Australia's foremost dance music event group, having brought to this country some of the biggest club names in the world, including the first Australian Gatecrasher tours, Ministry Of Sound, the Northern Exposure World Tour, God's Kitchen, Trade and Slinky. Artists that have appeared at Future Entertainment events read like a who's who of the international dance scene - Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Paul Oakenfold, Derrick May, Deep Dish, Chicane, David Morales, BT, Paul Van Dyk and Roger Sanchez.
