Ashley Weir, the So Solid Crew star recently convicted of assaulting a 15 year old girl, escaped a prison sentence last week, after a judge took into account the 22 year old's position.

"You are a young man on the brink of a career which may be extremely successful - we do not know. I am satisfied on the evidence that a prison sentence would undoubtedly have a significant adverse effect," said Judge Christopher Llewellyn-Jones speaking in Cardiff Crown Court.

The Welsh court heard how Weir, aka Skat D, brought the 15 year old girl back to his hotel with her friends then made sexual advances towards her in the foyer of the hotel. When the girl slapped him in the face, he punched her in the mouth, knocking her to the ground and breaking her jaw in two places.

"I have had my doubts about the way this was being handled right from the start," the victim told the BBC. "I was just trying to help a friend and now I have problems eating and talking sometimes, and face more surgery. I feel that he was given more support than me and now it is over I just feel let down by all those involved."

Weir was fined £1,500 and ordered to pay the girl £3,500 (US$5,000) in compensation.

In more legal trouble for the South London collective, Ashley Walters, aka Asher D, will be appearing in court on November 5th to face charges of possessing a gun and issuing death threats, 7 magazine reported this week. The band are scheduled to start their UK tour one month later in Norwich (at UAE December 5th)
