Italian hard techno/ house producer Mauro Picotto is branching out into club promotion in the UK and will hosting a series of events called Pulsar, he revealed this week. The Nukleuz Records producer and Gatecrasher resident has teamed up with former Golden promoter Nick Dean to form the company and will be launching in Scotland with two simultaneous events this November.

"Mauro Picotto is arguably the biggest DJ in the UK at the moment and one of the greatest producers in his field," said Nick Dean. "I learnt a lot with the whole Golden experience, and this, combined with Mauro's musical talents will make Pulsar one hell of a party."

Mauro spoke to Skrufff's Benedetta Ferraro recently and admitted he remains surprised about his enormous popularity in the UK.

"In all honesty, I'm as surprised as you are to be so well perceived over there," he said. "Over the last six months I've had many bookings from England, but it never occurred to me that my name was becoming 'big'. I feel it's all down to the audiences; they seem to like my sound. I'm also pleasantly surprised about the success I am having as a producer over there."

Mauro also confirmed he won't be spinning hard house at the forthcoming events. "Hard house it's more the sound of my label in England (Nukleuz), it is very minimal and certainly is not my sound at all. I feel I'm more underground and more inclined to experiment."

Joining him for both Scottish dates (on November 2nd at Bathgate and Perth) will be John 'OO' Fleming. Joy Kitikonti and Simon Foy (they'll presumably be shuttling DJs between towns) while Mario Piu headlines at Bathgate. Most of the lineup then heads over to Northern Ireland the following day, where they'll be performing at The Coach (Banbridge).
