Ibiza party promoters Manumission ran into bother this week as their official announcement of their New Years Eve festivities coincided with a terrifying incident involving a Go airlines flight between Spain and London. Following a warning that the Boeing 737-700 carrying 126 passengers was to be targeted by terrorists, a French Mirage fighter buzzed the airliner, 'honing in on the jet' to within 100 feet (The Standard).

"People were crying and swearing, trying to work out what was going on," said Rene Dobbs, a passenger on the flight. "One woman exclaimed 'Oh my God, what the Hell's happening- Is the plane going to be shot down-"

Although the flight was between Malaga and Stansted, Go Airlines also happen to operate the only direct flights between Ibiza and London (during the summer) and the incident is likely to further affect travel bookings between the UK and Spain. Manumission's press release avoided recent travel concerns altogether, however, focusing instead of the differences between Ibiza and London.

"The choice is yours; virtual bankruptcy, queuing in the rain, suffering the eternal wait for the cloakroom and searching in vain for a taxi in the cold grey dawn," they suggested.

"Or watching the sun go down on the old year at magical Cala D'Hort, followed by a pre-party at a secret location hosted by Manumission DJs, before heading to Pacha to party in style with the most dressed-up, messed-up party people and pleasure seekers anywhere".
