London's Legalise Cannabis Festival has been postponed from this Saturday (May 5th) until June 16th, following flooding at the proposed venue, Brockwell Park in Brixton. Organisers issued a statement this week announcing the new date, which blamed global warming for the cancellation.

"We cannot risk the health and safety of our supporters, nor do we wish to cause serious damage to Brockwell Park, which is an important local amenity," they said. "The London Cannabis Festival and March may be temporarily postponed but Saturday May 5th is still a global day of cannabis freedom and protest in 125 cities worldwide and that includes Britain. We encourage anyone who supports an early end to cannabis prohibition to do something useful in their local area on Sat May 5th and to prepare to 'Come out for Cannabis' at the largest and most enjoyable anti-prohibition event in Britain's history on Saturday June 16th."

Reports on the net suggest a 'smokey bears style' event may still take place by the Oval this Saturday, comprising those people still unaware of the event's postponement. Last year over 30,000 smokers attended the event, so significant numbers are likely to turn up at both locations.
