Ibiza Declared a Natural Disaster Zone Following Hurricane

Hurricane strength winds lashed Ibiza last weekend, stripping virtually all the sand from the island's northern beaches (Ibiza Online). Winds peaked at 150km/hour (100mph) ripping up trees across the island as 6 metre (18 feet) waves pounded the coastline. According to Ibiza Online, islanders are attempting to persuade Spanish authorities to recognise the Balearics as a "natural-disaster area".http://www.ibiza-online.com
