Aki and Impi D from Muslim hip hop fusionists Fun-Da-Mental will be DJing at East London club Cargo in December, at a fundraising event for the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Skrufff's Jonty Adderley who asked him why they'd decided to get involved.

"Why not-, he asked. "We're doing it because they're humans; humans that have been suffering. We feel an alignment with these people who are on the receiving end of things like F-16s, rockets and bullets."

Impi's Fun-Da-Mental colleague Twiceborn also spoke out recently, challenging George Bush's political stance following September 11.

"Islam is not the breeding ground of fanatics- geopolitics is the breeding ground of fanatics and what I think is scary, for Muslim and non-Muslim alike is that we are not allowed to withhold judgement: you're either with (Bush or Blair) or you're against them. Well, I'm on the side of the people who don't have blood on their hands."

Fun-Da-Mental's new album There Shall Be Love is out now on Nation Records. Joining them at Cargo (on December 3) are Transglobal Underground and Natacha Atlas.
