"The free party scene was basically a reaction to people getting charged £25 a ticket for the commercial raves and feeling like we'd been ripped off. It was a great time and the only reason we stopped was because, without being melodramatic, we knew we were going to get nicked (arrested) if we didn't. It was either go legal or go on the run abroad, which was what a lot of the others did." (DJ Magazine)

Drum Club original member Charlie Hall recalls the birth of Britain's free party scene, when he used to run with Spiral Tribe.
