Scottish techno producer Chris Cowie has recruited Ian McCullough from alternative 80s heroes Echo & the Bunnyman to sing on his forthcoming artist album, scheduled for release in April 2002. Cowie spent much of the last decade releasingh hundreds of tracks under a variety of pseudonyms including X Cabs, Vegas Soul and Stonemaker, which meant he remained firmly in the shadows as an individual. His recent compilation album Best Behaviour pulled all the personas together, bringing him well overdue recognition as one of the UK's most talented producers as well as selling out two full production runs (a third run has just been completed).

Cowie will also be launching a London club night in the New Year, in conjunction with his own label Bellboy. The monthly event is set to open in Camden in January and will be his first London dates for years.

"I really struggle to get gigs in this country for DJing; over the last 6 months I haven't had a single DJing offer," Chris told Skrufff's Jonty Adderley this August.

"If they don't want me here in the UK, then I'll DJ abroad. This is the same thing that happens to lots of DJ/producers who do the kind of stuff I do."
