Underground Resistance- Live In London For NYE2000

Mike Banks, Suburban Knight and Aztec Mystery will be leading a crack team of UR operatives at what promises to be one of London's best parties of New Year's Eve, Transit, taking place in Hoxton, East London. Joining the Underground Resistance posse at the 3,000 capacity event will be Barry 7 from rock/ experimentalists Add N to (X), Pulp's Jarvis Cocker (still to be confirmed), house specialist Kenny Dixon and Bob Stanley (from St Etienne).

The party will be a four roomed affair, themed around Alfred Hitchcock movies, since the venue, the Gainsborough Studios, was the Brit director's 'resident studio' for many of his best films. UR (Interstellar Fugitives), "taking time out from their battle with plagiarists who attempted to rob them of this year's biggest club anthem, Knights Of The Jaguar," host the 'Vertigo Room' and are promising to "rock your body into submission." Elsewhere, the "Birds" room promises "affirmative action for the club generation", presumably meaning it's a girls-only bar, though intriguingly "boys in touch with their feminity will love this haven." 'Spellbound' offers house music and 'furious' disco all night long, while 'Notorious' will be concentrating on breaks, hip hop and funk.

The only sour note threatening the event (as well as every other NYE party happening in London) is the plan proposed by London Underground management, to shutdown much of the tube system from 6pm on New Years Eve. Virtually the entire tube system in the central zone of London will be shut down if management have their way, threatening travel chaos for the entire city.
