Sasha vs Sash! - Who's The Real Number 1 DJ-

German pop star Sash!, whose biggest hit remains 'Encore Un Fois', is headlining at a New Year's Eve party in Adelaide, Australia where he's being billed as "the world's No 1 DJ/producer", alongside Carl Cox. "There are only two names in the Big League of world DJs: Sash! & Carl Cox.," the advert claims. "Sash! ordinarily appears at New Year's Events in New York, Berlin, London or Paris. This New Year's Eve SASH! will be hitting the stage in Adelaide… This is Adelaide's most ambitious undertaking yet. No act this big has ever appeared in Adelaide on New Year's Eve."


That Sash! is recognised as a world famous pop star is certainly true though his DJing reputation remains somewhat lower profile, not even gaining him a placing in DJ magazine's recent Top 100 DJs poll. In fact, progressive trance DJ Sasha became this year's number 1 DJ on the poll (Carl Cox was at 5) and is also set to DJ in Australia on New Year's Eve, though at two parties in Sydney and Melbourne. Coincidentally, British Sasha was involved in an identity dispute with German pop star Sasha over who could use the name, and mentioned at the time how he also sometimes gets confused with Sash! "Having Sash! around is bad enough putting out cheesy trance, but with another Sasha I might have to change my name," UK Sasha said at the time. "I can still use the name Sasha in the places that matter to me, ie Britain, the States and the Far East but if it gets more confusing I might just choose a different name for my music."
