Detroit uber techno DJ Jeff Mills was inspired to record his new soundtrack to Fritz Lang's classic 1920s movie Metropolis, by the movie's anti- capitalist subtext, he told Jockey Slut last week. "It's a wonderful lesson that they movie has to teach- it's about the needs of the many versus the needs of the few," said Mills. "It's very easy to imagine that there are a lot of people making decisions for a lot of other people that they aren't even conscious of. There are a few people, very powerful people, making all the computers for us to work off, for us to use; they're shaping the way we live. And it's very important not to forget that the people have the say in the end, not Bill Gates.". . Metropolis is out now on Berlin's Tresor Records
