The Urban Renewal Program is the past, present and future of urban art, music and expression. This album is the first of four, featuring such artists as Mos Def, Diverse, Caural, DJ Food, El-P, Aesop Rock, Tortoise, Prefuse-73, and Miho Hatori of Cibo Matto and Gorillaz. DSP are Jonny Cuba & the Loop Professor, long-time members of South London's Hip-Hop scene. Inspired by mega-producers like Pete Rock, DJ Premier & Diamond D as well as older innovators like Quincy Jones, David Axelrod & James Brown. They combine the lyrical skills of UK and US emcees with DSP's heavyweight beats. The LP features: Mass Influence & Juice Aleem, old school legend Chill Rob & some rising stars such as Phi-Life Cypher (recently performing at the Brit Awards with the Gorillaz).
