For the last 2 years the Melbourne Hard House scene has grown from strength to strength and one of the main factors behind this has been the ongoing monthly residency of UK Hard House night Frantic. Always pushing the boundaries of hard underground sounds, Frantic has become an institution to many Melbourne clubbers.

Here to help celebrate their 2nd birthday in Australia are two of the most influential and respected DJ/Producers in the Hard House scene today - Nick Sentience and BK. The venue for this, an old favourite of mine - The Palace in St. Kilda (ahh the memories).

Arriving to the sounds of Fez at 11:30pm, the Palace was already starting to fill quite rapidly. He was setting a nice pace, pumping out some bouncy tracks that already had created many smiles on the people around me. Time for a drink and other essential items…

With the energy of the crowd increasingly rising, I found myself being drawn to the main dance floor and once there, found it extremely hard to leave. Up next was local resident DJ Kane. I'm a big wrap for this guy, every time I see him play he just gets better and better. He's a serious guy behind the decks but that's probably because he cranks out some serious tunes. He dropped some awesome stuff and he was the perfect lead up to the international guests.

By now the Palace seemed quite full but there was still just the right amount of room to move. The crowd was up for it crowd and Nick Sentience knew it as he made his way up behind the decks. I've had the pleasure of seeing him a few times at previous Frantic parties so my expectations of him were high but I was sure he wouldn't disappoint. At only 21 and with countless amounts of remixes and his own production work under his arm, Nick proceeded to send us down the path of dirty, driving hard tracks. I felt like I was on my way to heaven. God I love my relentless beats!

Next up was Craig Jon also from the UK. He kept the pace rockin but everyone was really waiting for Nukleuz's in-house producer BK. As he arrived, immediately the tempo was upped a notch and it was certainly made clear to me why this guy is in such high demand. To put it simply, BK rocks. With cheers sounding out around the venue during his set, it was clear no one was going anywhere. I could barely stand by the end of his set but I still found the energy to cry out for more. I stayed on for a little while to experience local DJ Griff, but my body seemed to get the better of me.

All in all a very satisfying night, congratulations go out to the Frantic Crew here in Melbourne for putting on what is always top quality night of banging hard house. Bring on the next one!!
